With the Company now embarking on the next stage of its growth plan, the Board of MOF Technologies (MOFT) is delighted to announce the appointment of Darren Mawhinney as its new CEO. Darren has a proven track record in the commercialisation of new technologies and a wealth of experience in export-led expansion.
Darren relishes the challenge of moving back to Belfast full time to help MOFT reach its full potential and working at the leading edge of nanomaterials. The Board are excited to have him leading the company and are looking forward to working with him to realise MOFT’s full commercial and financial potential. He will be ably backed by the company’s world leading team, encompassing some of the brightest minds from ten countries. Darren will develop MOFT into a three-strand business offering MOF Consulting Services, an internationally respected Innovation Lab and the traditional MOFT manufacturing business.
Darren has held key positions in UK and Irish companies such as Kainos Plc, Glen Dimplex, Cloud Technology Solutions and as the Head of Strategy for a national water utility. His career has spanned: export development, hardware, software, the water industry, engineering and renewable energy. He is a frequent guest and keynote speaker at international events specialising in smart environments, devices and materials and an active promoter of using new technology to solve existing business and process issues.
As an Export Ambassador for the UK Department of International Trade Darren has direct experience of selling in over 80 countries, working with blue-chip clients such Motorola, Thales Group, Thomson Reuters, EDAFCO, LinkedIn and Salesforce.com. This international perspective will help him identify, understand and anticipate customer needs and emerging technology trends, building upon MOFT’s existing blue-chip customer base to extend and enhance customer relationships.
Darren has a Business based honours degree and MSc from the University of Ulster and has studied International Marketing at the University of San Francisco and as a S.D. Southern Scholar to the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He has been a Chartered Marketer since 1999 and, having been awarded the Freedom of the City of London in 2006, became a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors in 2016.
